Sew Day

6 Micro Potato Bags!

Close up of Potato Bag.

Marcia's table runner.

My pile of cut up t-shirts.
My gang has missed sew day for a couple of weeks. Sherre and her husband have left with their RV to Georgia for a year.  Today Marcia came over and we had a cutting day.  She cut out a table runner and I was cutting out t-shirts for a quilt.  Marcia had finished the binding on our baby quilt, but I forgot to take a photo.  Marcia had to leave early, so no lunch.  We will be hostessing the quilt show on Friday.

On another note, there is a huge wildfire burning about 20 miles north of here.  Quite a few structures have burned to the ground, but I haven't heard how many families have lost homes.  There has been one death, no details on that yet.  Luckily the wind hasn't been blowing the smoke in our direction, but unluckily, the wind has made the fire worse.

New pattern up on Craftsy!

Dice and Splice  Heart Shaped World

I listed another one of my Dice and Splice patterns on my Craftsy pattern site!  It felt like it took all week to edit the file!  Thanks so much to my friend, Lisa, she went above and beyond to help me get it ready to publish. This pattern features 2 sizes of quilts.  The small one is perfect for a Valentine!  I also have the cutting list for a lap size.  I have several more in this series.  I am not sure when I will be able to get them up and ready, I have some other projects with looming deadlines that need to be worked on first.

Manti Quilt Show

The opportunity quilt.

Marcia's apple pie quilt.
I spent some time helping hang a quilt show this afternoon.  Our little group, The Horseshoe Mountain Quilters put on a show every year during the Manti Mormon Miracle Pageant.  Since they are drawing from the pool of Quilters that also showed quilts in the Scandinavian Days Show over Memorial Weekend, we have a lot of duplicates.  But that is OK, the crowds tend to be different.  We had close to 70 quilts!  Not bad for a small town show.  If you are anywhere near Manti, UT in the next two weeks, stop by and see the quilts.  The show will be open 10-8 through the 30th of June.  The show will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Trying to get my groove on.

Squares cut and organized.

Machine applique.

Square that block!

The back view.
I am working on a new pattern for my Craftsy pattern shop.  I needed to take in progress photos to show the technique. I took way more than needed, and am trying to pare down the pattern so it doesn't turn into a 20 pager.  And it is always a challenge to try to word things in a simplified manner.  Most look at the photos/drawings and don't pay attention to wordy descriptions.  I had hoped to get it listed today.  MMMmmmmm.  Well, we will see!

Story of one of the quilt walkers.

I had a wonderful time at the Quilt Walk Festival!  It was nice to spend time with my friend Sandy.  Since she has moved to Arizona, we haven't been able to get together very often.  My classes went well.  I was totally floored when a quilt as you go class that requires a zig-zag machine has half the students bringing featherweights!  I was able to alter the pattern for them so that they all were able to have a successful project.  The Jazzy class was fun!  Not many students, but we had a good time and they got a lot accomplished.

I somehow only took photos of the vintage quilts in the show. That happens.  There were a lot of nice quilts.

On Saturday morning we stopped at the Quilt Walk Park.  It was well done.  It had been dedicated last year.  The path had quilt patterns stamped into it, there was a bench to honor each member of the Quilt Walkers. And carved into the bench was the life story of that man.  All in all a fun trip!

The Quilt Walk Festival

A new lamp!

Beautiful plastic flowers outside our room!

Cool collection at the liquor store!

Another view.

I just love these guys!

Beautiful glassware.

The last four years my friend Sandy and I have been meeting up in Panguitch, Utah for the annual Quilt Walk Festival.  It is always a lot of fun!  Since we are both teaching quilt classes, the Festival puts us up in a local motel.  Several of the motels donate rooms to the Festival for this purpose.  Amazingly enough, we got the exact same room in the same motel as last year.  Last year there was this poor little broken lamp.  I have a photo on my home computer, so I can't access it right now. So that explains the lamp photo. But although this is a small older motel, it is very clean. I would take clean over fancy any day! After we checked in at the festival and got our goody-bag and name tags, we stopped the liquor store for a bottle of wine.  Living in rural Utah, you learn which of the small towns have a good selection in their state run liquor stores.  Our town's store is pretty sad, so it is a treat to go to the one in Panguitch.  I asked the woman behind the counter if it was ok to take photos of the wonderful collection on top of the shelves and she said sure. I love the Baileys cups!  The faces are too cute!  I will try to get some photos of the quilt show this afternoon and post again tomorrow.

Lovely Iris's

Weird looking chicken!

Our sweet little quilt guild in Ephraim, Sanpete Stitchin' Sisters, had their closing social last week.  They are the ones that put on the quilt show over Memorial weekend.  They take the summer off and then start up again in September.  I arrived a few minutes late, right in the middle of show and tell. Do you think that I can pull out my camera at that time?  No, only when the food comes out!  After dinner, I realized that I didn't take any photos of quilts, so took some of the Iris garden (only one shot turned out) and then one of this weird looking chicken.  I can't really figure out what happened to her behind.  Maybe I don't really want to know the answer to that one!
